Hoopla Digital

With hoopla digital, patrons can now instantly read, watch, and listen to their choice of more than 1,000,000 titles (audiobooks, eBooks, comics, music, movies, and TV), for free with their Library card.  Content can be streamed from any computer or mobile device by downloading the hoopla digital app for iOS and Android.

The library is charged per check-out, so there is no waiting and no holds. Check outs are limited to 5 per family per month and is available only to patrons who are residents of Slater, Sheldahl, Kelley, Alleman and Rural Story County.

Loan times are as follows:

  • eBooks, audiobooks, and comics – 21 days
  • Movies and TV – 3 days
  • Music – 7 days

BRIDGES by Overdrive

The library subscribes to Bridges.  The collection has fiction and nonfiction titles, as well as books for children and teens.  Magazines and video are also available.

E-books and E-audiobooks will check out for 2 weeks (can be returned early). Titles will automatically expire at the end of the lending period. This service, powered by OverDrive, is free with your library card. To get started, you will need to install the Libby App.

State Library of Iowa

The State Library has several online resources available such as the Iowa Locator – Iowa’s Card Catalog – which allows you to search holdings throughout the state.  You can also use the State Data Center of Iowa as a source for population, housing, business and government statistics about Iowa, including data from the U.S. Census Bureau, Iowa state agencies, and other state and federal sources.  Go to their website and go to the “For Iowans” page and then to the “Online Resources for Iowans” link.

 

 

Brainfuse HelpNow

Live tutoring, ACT test prep, and help writing papers is just a few of the resources available with HelpNow.  Brainfuse HelpNow is an all–in–one suite of tutoring services designed for a wide range of academic needs whether it’s tackling a tough homework problem, mastering a particular topic, or writing a paper. HelpNow services include expert academic tutoring and self–study tools to empower users to study at their own pace or collaborate with peers and teachers. Students access live, on–demand academic help and state–aligned skills building lessons from expert tutors. With HelpNow, tutors and students communicate in real time in our online classroom by typing, drawing, and marking–up lessons and web content. Plus, students can use our secure file sharing feature in the writing lab to submit writing assignments to our writing tutors any time of the day. The Brainfuse full–service test center offers practice tests for all levels in math, reading, and writing as well as college preparatory tests – including the ACT.  Click HERE to get started.

 

State Data Center

The State Data Center of Iowa is the source for population, housing, business and government statistics about Iowa, including data from the U.S. Census Bureau, Iowa state agencies, and other state and federal sources. Brainfuse JobNow & VetNow

VetNow offers tailored support to veterans and their families.  Vets can use VetNow to connect with a live veteran navigator and get free assistance from a veteran with VA benefits. Assistance is also available to help with job hunting, resumes, interviews, and building academic skills.

With Brainfuse JobNow, you can meet with a live online job coach for help searching for your ideal job, creating a new resume, or preparing for job interviews.  You can also build skills in the Adult Learning Center, where patrons can access the High School Equivalency test prep, US Citizenship test prep, Microsoft Office support, and more.  Click HERE to access these helpful resources.
